Glass ionomers

Glass ionomer temporary cements GIZ, dental restorative materials used in dentistry for luting cements and filling teeth. Glass-ionomer cements are formed by combining of finely milled glass with organic acids (polyacrylic acid). Glass ionomers can be used to reconstruct stumps or before placing crowns and bridges, as a primer for composites and as a long-term temporary restoration. Despite its fragility, glass-ionomers are very durable and react chemically to dentin and enamel, therefore, adhere firmly to the tooth structure.
